What is technical SEO?

Technical SEO is the work that makes sure search engines — and AI tools — can crawl, index and understand your website: its structure, speed, code, redirects and structured data.

It’s the foundation everything else depends on. Great content won’t rank if Google can’t reach it, and slow, unstable pages lose both rankings and enquiries.

What I look at

Every technical element, checked and fixed

Technical SEO covers a lot of ground. These are the six areas I audit and fix on every project.

Crawlability & indexation

I remove what stops Google discovering and processing your pages: blocked URLs, crawl waste, stray noindex tags and incorrect canonicals.

Core Web Vitals & speed

I improve load times, responsiveness and visual stability, so your pages pass Core Web Vitals and feel fast to use.

Site architecture & URLs

I restructure navigation, URLs and internal links so people and crawlers reach your most important pages in as few clicks as possible.

Redirects & errors

Redirect chains, 404s, duplicate pages and broken links found and fixed, so your authority isn’t leaking away.

Mobile & rendering

Google ranks the mobile version of your site. I check mobile usability and how JavaScript-heavy pages render for search engines.

Structured data & schema

I add and fix schema so search engines and AI tools understand your content — and your pages qualify for rich results.

My technical SEO process

How does technical SEO work?

From diagnosis to fixes that ship — prioritised by impact and effort.

1

Discovery & diagnostics

I start by understanding your site architecture, platform constraints and business goals, so the plan targets your specific challenges and the biggest opportunities.

2

Technical audit

I audit what matters at scale: crawl depth, indexation, internal linking, structured data and Core Web Vitals — with quick wins and longer-term fixes clearly separated.

3

Prioritise by impact and effort

Every recommendation gets an impact score and a complexity rating, so your developer can plan confidently and ship the highest-value fixes first.

4

Fix & verify

I implement the fixes or work alongside your developer, then check Search Console, crawl data and Core Web Vitals to confirm they’ve landed.

What my clients say

★★★★★

“Everything she delivers is well organised, with clear next steps, and the quality is always high. Not only is the technical work outstanding but her strategic approach has not only helped my clients SEO but also their wider marketing strategy.”

Not sure where to start?

Most clients come to me with one of three technical problems.

01

Pages not getting indexed

Important pages are missing from Google, or keep dropping out.

02

A slow, heavy website

Poor Core Web Vitals and slow pages are costing you rankings and enquiries.

03

Rankings stuck despite good content

You publish good content, but it doesn’t rank the way it should.

Whichever applies, the starting point is the same: a free call where I look at your site first.

How much does technical SEO cost?

Technical SEO projects start from £650, depending on the size and complexity of your site. That covers an in-depth technical audit, a prioritised fix list and implementation support. If you’d like ongoing technical work, it’s included in my monthly SEO services from £750 a month.

What’s the difference between an SEO audit and technical SEO?

An SEO audit is a broad health check — technical, content and competitors — that ends with a roadmap. Technical SEO goes deeper into the technical layer and includes the fixes themselves, done by me or alongside your developer.

What’s on your technical SEO checklist?

Every project covers:

  • Crawlability and indexation (robots, noindex, sitemaps, canonicals)
  • Site architecture, crawl depth and internal linking
  • Page speed and Core Web Vitals
  • Redirects, broken links, duplicates and errors
  • Structured data (schema)
  • Mobile usability and JavaScript rendering
  • Templates and site-wide issues
What access do you need to get started?

Ideally Google Search Console and GA4, so I can diagnose crawl and indexation issues and confirm improvements. If I’m implementing fixes, I’ll also need access to your CMS (e.g. WordPress, Webflow or Shopify) and, where relevant, your hosting or CDN (e.g. Cloudflare). If you prefer, I can start with read-only access and add permissions only when implementation begins.

What do you deliver after the audit?

A clear report and a prioritised action plan, including:

  • Issues and opportunities grouped by theme (crawl and indexation, performance, templates, schema and more)
  • Impact and effort scores, so it’s obvious what to do first
  • Recommendations written for developers — or step-by-step guidance if you’re implementing in-house
  • Quick wins you can act on straight away, alongside longer-term improvements

If you have a development team, I can turn the priorities into a ticket-style backlog.

Can technical SEO improve conversions as well as rankings?

Yes. Technical SEO removes the friction that stops people taking action. Faster pages, fewer layout shifts, better mobile usability and cleaner navigation help visitors stay longer, trust your site more and complete key actions — enquiries, bookings and purchases.

How do you prioritise fixes?

Each recommendation is scored on:

  • Expected SEO and commercial impact (visibility, indexation, traffic quality, conversions)
  • Implementation complexity (time, dependencies, risk)
  • Scale (a single page, or whole templates and the entire site)

That gives you a clear “do this first” roadmap, so your time and development budget go where they’ll genuinely move the needle.

How soon should we expect results after fixes go live?

Some improvements show quickly — especially indexation fixes, redirect clean-up and obvious performance wins — often within a few weeks as Google recrawls your site. Competitive ranking gains take longer. I track the leading indicators (index coverage, crawl errors, Core Web Vitals, organic landing pages) so you can see progress before rankings settle.
